This project aims at using Trolltech Qt4 packages on maemo devices. In this way your tablet will be able to run many Qt4 applications. The first step is completed and the user and developper packages are available on http://qt4.garage.maemo.org.
The second work is now the Hildonization: To move the menubar to the menu system and allow to use a virtual keyboard. A first application is already ported, it's SpeedCrunch a fast, high precision and powerful desktop calculator, available in the same repository.

XGalaga 0.0.7 is now available for OS2008 (n800 and n810). XGalaga is a clone of the classic game Galaga for the X Window System. Xgalaga is a space-invader like game with additional features to produce a more interesting game. Available on the Download page.
Claws-mail 2.10.0 is released by the project team. This version is also available for Maemo platform (Nokia 770 and 800) at http://www.claws-mail.org/maemo
A new release of Claws-mail 2.9.2-1 is available on http://www.claws-mail.org/maemo. With this release, some plugins are available too:
I packaged only the plugins who seems to be useful on the tablets. Feedbacks are welcome.
A new package 2.9.1-1 (based on the 2.9.1cvs18) is available on http://www.claws-mail.org/maemo/. This release fixes many bugs with some concerning Maemo tablets.
Without Ctrl key, the tablet needs a way to multi-select items. For this, a toggle button is now present to the summary view to switch between normal and multiple selection.
Almost everyone agrees for saying that the default email client is not completely usable. If you want a very good client, I invite you to try Claws-mail. But if you have already used osso-email, the default client, how to recover your emails into Claws-mail?
On Maemo Claws-mail homepage, you can find a little script who permit to copy your emails from osso-email to Claws-mail.
Claws-mail 2.9.0 is released by the project team. This version is also available for Maemo platform at http://www.claws-mail.org/maemo

The new version of Maemo Claws-mail 2.8.1-5 available on garage provides :
- New icons in toolbars to open and close messages
- tap-and-hold functionnality to allow to use options in popup menus
- Open external web browser when a link in a message is clicked.
- In "Compose" window, the input fields are moved to be always visible (i.e. ever hidden by the virtual keyboard).
- A new layout especially created for the tablet and named "Little screen" increase the comfort of use as on screenshot below.

As the toolbars are customisable, those of you that upgrade from a previous version will not see the new buttons. For this, you will have to go to the Preferences (in Configuration menu), Toolbars, and choose "Use default" for the Main, Compose and Message toolbars. This button is at the right of the preferences dialog, so you probably will have to scroll to see it.
I want to thank Colin Leroy, one of Claws upstream developers with which I work to integrate Claws-mail in the tablet. Now the specific code for Maemo is integrated in the main code of Claws-mail project. That means that to each release of Claws-mail, will leave the Maemo version.
Available on https://garage.maemo.org/projects/claws-mail/
The version of Claws-mail 2.8.1-2 is available on https://garage.maemo.org/projects/claws-mail/. This version improve the integration in the tablet. The menus are attached to the windows and appears in the title bar.

When the user compose a new message or reply, the text entered is not hidden by the virtual keyboard (as in the previous version).
I think that we need a good email client on Nokia 770 and 800. With the client provided by default, all the posts are stored in the same folder. It's not really usable. Another clients already exists. Mutt. Mutt is certainly a good client but is text-only based.
Sylpheed exists too on Nokia but I think that an application on the tablet must be showed in fullscreen and Sylpheed does not do it.
These last days I found Claws Mail, an email client (and news reader), based on GTK+, featuring :
Quick response
Graceful, and sophisticated interface
Easy configuration, intuitive operation
Abundant features
Extensibility
Robustness and stability
First let us thank the developers team to provide this good email client.
I have modified a little the code to provide the display in fullscreen. A first release is available to download on the garage on https://garage.maemo.org/projects/claws-mail/.
Claws Mail is translated in many language, the screenshot shows the main window with the French interface. It works quickly on the 770 and is pleasant to use.
I think that Claws-mail is a good email client for the tablet. Try it...
