idea - carkit-like software on maemo
Today I was on the bus and got a new idea for the n800/770: a car kit like software that integrates with your cellphone. It would work like this:
- The tablet will be connected to the phone as a bluetooth headset. This way, all calls would go through the tablet. (PAN, yay!)
- The media players/server on the tablet will be integrated with the car-kit software. If the music/video/fmradio is playing when you receive a call, it would automatically pause the content. Would then resume when the call ends.
- The user would use this with a BT headset paired with the tablet, or the standard nokia headset, or with the actual speakers/mic on the tablet (handsfree) (or maybe in the future as a voip-gateway -is the terminology right?- ie. forward your actual incoming calls to skype)
- If possible, (ie. if it's in the phone-bt-headset-protocol) flite could be used to "read" the caller id/info
- Even a call-filter feature (ignore calls by caller id) could be added later when the author gets millions of dollars in donations
So, what do you think, any takers? If I had any idea about BT protocols and pose-as-a-headset-and-all-that-wrapping stuff (and if we actually had better docs at maemo.org) I would start a project but it's just too much for me right now. My best bet is Nokia/OSSO, tough their tablet-addons are mostly closed source which really sucks.
